With the driving vision to be recognized by our customers as the world’s leading source of specialty additives, the Amfine KY plant is a shining example of Asahi Denka’s technology, one of their most environmentally friendly and efficient plants in the world, designed with the most sophisticated technology cultivated by Asahi Denka over the past 30-years of experience leading in this field.
Various types of advanced plastic additives as well as PVC Stabilizers are produced here, mainly for US consumption. Combined annual plant capacity is approximately 1100 metric tons or 2,400,000 pounds.
We broke ground on this World Class facility in the summer of 1999 and began trial runs in the following summer of 2000, 4 months ahead of schedule. Due to exceptional efforts of the production & technical teams, the very first batch produced yielded a quality product in what we call a vertical start-up.
The Amfine KY Plant is committed to quality having recently received in the fall of 2001, ISO 9001:2000 certification. Along with that commitment to quality, we are equally focused on protecting the environment and have targeted ISO 14000 certification by year’s end. Our state of the art waste recovery systems and biologically active waste water treatment systems demonstrate our dedication to protect the environment.
Continuous improvement is also a way of life at the plant. We recently kicked-off our Kaizen programs of 5-S and TPM ensuring effective and positive team involvement in all aspects of our operations.
At Amfine we are proud of our safety record and our #1 goal of keeping safety 1st in everything that we do. Safety is the 1st agenda item at all meetings and all personnel attend monthly safety meetings, while a proactive near miss program alerts us to safety concerns before they become accidents. We work under OSHA’s PSM program, mandating safety throughout all plant procedures and operations.
The Amfine KY plant received the 2001 National Design-Build Award of Excellence in the “Best Project-Industrial/Process Sector” by the Design-Build Institute of America. Amfine was recognized as the most outstanding design-build project in its category among entries submitted from around the world. It also received the 2001 Award of Excellence from the Kentuckiana Associated Builders and Contractors.
With the goals of Safety First, Customer Focused Satisfaction and a Rewarding Work Environment, the Amfine KY Plant stands prepared to meet the challenges ahead.
